Audi South Africa has announced a significant leadership change with the appointment of Markus Schuster as its new Head of Operations, effective September 2025. The move signals a renewed push by the German premium brand to deepen its roots in the local market and strengthen its presence across Africa’s most dynamic automotive landscape. With over 20 years of experience in the global automotive industry, Schuster brings a wealth of international expertise spanning Germany, Italy, and Singapore. Before his South African appointment, he served as Managing Director of Audi Singapore, where he spearheaded the company’s transition into Audi’s first-ever direct-to-customer franchise, reshaping the way the brand connects with its clients. “I’m truly honoured to lead Audi South Africa,” Schuster said. “The market here is vibrant, competitive, and full of opportunity. I look forward to working with our local team to expand Audi’s footprint and continue offering premium, progressive mobility solutions that reflect our brand’s global vision.” According to Simphiwe Nghona, Director of Sales and Marketing at Volkswagen Group Africa, Schuster’s appointment could not have come at a better time. “Markus has a proven record of transforming customer experience through innovation and technology. His leadership will be vital as Audi enters a bold new era of growth in South Africa,” he said. A New Era for Audi in South Africa Audi South Africa is gearing up for an ambitious product rollout over the next two years, with 21 new models set to hit local showrooms. Among them are headline-grabbing launches such as the new Q7 and Q8, a refreshed A3 lineup, and the all-new A5 Sedan. The popular Q3 and Q5 are also slated for arrival in 2026, reinforcing Audi’s commitment to offer one of the most complete premium ranges in the market. Adding to this momentum, the brand has invested heavily in its retail network. The recently unveiled Audi Centre Sandton, with its cutting-edge design and advanced digital features, represents the future of Audi’s retail experience — merging luxury, technology, and sustainability. Accelerating Towards Electrification Schuster’s tenure in Singapore showcased his strong focus on electrification and customer-centric innovation. He was instrumental in introducing Audi’s e-tron models and implementing forward-thinking EV charging solutions, transforming Audi Singapore into a benchmark for progressive mobility. In South Africa, his mission will extend that same philosophy — building on Audi’s growing electric vehicle portfolio while ensuring customers are supported by a reliable, future-ready infrastructure. Balancing Heritage with the Future As he steps into his new role, Schuster inherits a brand built on strong foundations and loyal partnerships. His challenge will be to maintain that legacy while accelerating the transition towards digital transformation and sustainable performance. With Schuster at the helm, Audi South Africa is not just preparing for a new era — it’s gearing up to lead it.
