Olympic bronze medallist and international track and field star, Isaac Makwala, recently secured a major endorsement deal with local BMW dealers, Capital Motors. Makwala, who won bronze as part of the 4x400m team at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, is currently promoting BMW vehicles through his social media platforms as part of the exciting partnership. "My preference is fast cars, and maybe it's because I am a competitive runner. It's a great combination, running and fast cars," the passionate athlete said in a recent interview with Torquing Wheels. Makwala, who is not only a dominant athlete on the track but also a gentleman off it, recently became the first locally-based athlete and public figure to forge a major endorsement deal with a mainstream car dealership like BMW. "I bought my car here in 2015, a F30 320i, and later on, I approached Capital Motors management about the possibility of becoming an ambassador. I told them that I wished to work with the brand Capital Motors BMW to be the brand ambassador," Makwala explained. "It has been two years since and I was frequently bringing the car for service." Makwala relished the opportunity of becoming the first athlete to score a major endorsement deal with a local major dealership. "Coming to an agreement took a while as this was a first and no one has ever been a brand ambassador for a high-profile dealership, so it was hard for them to agree. I continued to engage Capital Motors and they finally agreed to give it a try and see how it goes," he said. Capital Motors is providing Makwala with a number of their cars for promotional purposes, and the athlete has explained that members of the public are reacting positively to some of the promotional content he has provided on social media. "Most people have become aware of the new BMW 118i since I started to drive it," Makwala said. The current deal requires him to make some promotional social media work even when he is outside the country, but he has said that after retirement he will have more time to work as a brand ambassador. For Capital BMW representative Ridhwan Dada, the idea for a partnership with the athlete was always there and they were waiting to work out the details of how to make the relationship work for both parties. "In the Botswana market, this is not something that is very common, so we always had that idea and we have been talking about it for a while. We were trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together from both sides just to make sure that it makes sense," Dada said. The endorsement deal is a testament to Makwala's hard work and dedication both on and off the track. As he continues to make waves in the world of athletics, he's also making a name for himself in the world of luxury car endorsements, proving that true champions are not limited to just one field of excellence. #cars #carsofinstagram #Botswana #Botswanatourism #buybotswana
