Ford's popular Everest SUV now boasts factory-approved armouring options, thanks to a partnership with SVI Engineering, a leading South African manufacturer of armoured vehicles. The Everest can now be equipped with discreet B4 and B6 armouring packages, providing comprehensive protection while retaining the vehicle’s original warranty. Enhanced Protection with SVI’s QVM Status SVI’s Qualified Vehicle Modifier (QVM) status with Ford ensures that the Everest’s standard manufacturer warranty remains intact even with the new armour installations. Both the B4 and B6 packages can be ordered directly from Ford dealerships in South Africa and financed through Ford Credit, making these high-security options accessible to more customers. “We’ve seen great success with our factory-backed armouring for the Ford Ranger,” said Nicol Louw, SVI’s Business Development Director. “Extending this partnership to the Everest was a natural step, offering this versatile SUV the same level of protection.” Discreet B4 and B6 Armouring Packages SVI’s engineering expertise shines through in the bespoke B4 and B6 armouring solutions for the Everest. The B4 package offers 360-degree protection against handguns up to .44 Magnum, making it an ideal anti-hijack solution. This lightweight package includes 21 mm armoured glass and Kevlar sheets, ensuring minimal impact on the vehicle’s performance and negating the need for suspension upgrades. For those needing higher protection, the B6 package offers resistance against assault rifles like the AK47 and R1. This package includes custom-fabricated armoured steel plates and 38 mm ballistic glass, along with a reinforced rear bulkhead featuring an escape hatch. The B6 package also comes with a necessary suspension upgrade to handle the additional weight. Both armouring levels maintain the functionality of the Everest’s driver-assistance systems, ensuring safety features remain fully operational. Pricing and Build Time The armouring solutions come with a notable investment. The B4 package starts at R725,684 (excluding VAT), while the B6 package begins at R928,534 (excluding VAT). Optional extras include roof and floor armour, a PA system, and heavy-duty runflat rings for tyres. Each armouring project has an estimated build time of three months.
