In a glitzy celebration that blended cutting edge architectural innovation with luxury automotive excellence, Naledi Motors officially launched its newly revamped Mercedes-Benz dealership in Gaborone this week. The high-profile event, which brought together leaders from the motoring industry, marked a dual milestone, the unveiling of Botswana’s first MAR20X concept showroom and the dealership’s 40th anniversary. Guests at the launch were treated to an up-close look at the redesigned facility, which reflects Mercedes-Benz’s global vision of customer-centric dealership design. The opulent showroom also served as the perfect backdrop to showcase the formidable 2025 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG, reaffirming the brand’s dominance in the high-performance SUV segment. Speaking at the event, Naledi Motors Group Dealer Principal Wayne Jordaan highlighted the significance of the transformation. “We’re proud to be among the first in Africa to implement the Mercedes-Benz MAR20X concept, a bold new direction for the brand’s retail network,” Jordaan said. “The idea was born during the COVID-19 pandemic, and now it’s finally come to life in a facility built entirely around the customer experience.” Unlike conventional dealerships, the new layout features a single entrance that directs all visitors to a central point. Upon arrival, customers are greeted by a “Star Assistant,” a role designed to provide seamless navigation within the dealership,be it service, parts, or vehicle sales. “The entire structure has been purpose-built to enhance interaction and eliminate confusion,” Jordaan explained. “From the interior design to the flow of movement, everything is aimed at making customers feel more connected and comfortable.” This Gaborone dealership is not only the first of its kind in Botswana but also among just a handful across the continent, with only four other MAR20X sites operating in Southern Africa. While the visual upgrade is striking, Jordaan emphasized that the revamp is more about enriching the customer journey than boosting sales. “Of course, increased foot traffic and rising interest in our vehicles are welcome outcomes. But our core goal was to raise the bar on the luxury buying experience. Our customers expect the best, and this facility delivers just that,” he said. Naledi Motors has recently seen a noticeable uptick in showroom visits. “Customers are genuinely excited by the space. They come in, explore the models, and feel a stronger connection to the brand,” Jordaan noted. The launch also served as a moment of reflection for Naledi Motors, which has grown from its origins as British Motors to become one of Botswana’s most respected luxury automotive dealers. Under the leadership of Executive Chairman Dr. Satar Dada, the company took on the Mercedes-Benz franchise four decades ago, making it one of the earliest local brands of premium motoring. “We’ve weathered many storms and celebrated many successes over the past 40 years,” Jordaan said. “Our relationship with Mercedes-Benz is a true partnership. They understand our market, support our operations, and share our commitment to delivering excellence.”
